Birthday cards for family, friends and friends of the family
Guilt burdens me if I purchase a card to communicate a holiday, anniversary or birthday wish when I, as an artist, have the ability to make one. My card constructions range from basic black-marker sketches on a single-fold card stock sheet, to marker with watercolor washes, to a complex folded story completely digitally rendered and cut and assembled with glue, to an animated story that only means anything from me to the recipient. Eventually, my obsession overtook cards given from my son to his friends at their birthday parties. I stopped when all of the children grew old enough to make their own cards and I was not a toddler's father anymore with a cute gesture.
Below is a small collection of cards for my son, friends, relatives or my son's friends of which he then provided ideas and art direction based on their interests and birthday party themes. Yes, he did have input. I have provided only the digital art cards; I have never recorded the traditional media cards.

Designed as a single fold with where the banner wraps around the card from the front to the back and then to the inside. My son has his own logo.
